You inform me on the phone about the date and place of your marriage and as long as I am available on the day, I let you know how much I charge for my service and then we can organise a date for the first interview where we will fill out the NOIM.( Official notice of intended marriage).
This notice must be given at least one month ahead of the day of the wedding but it can be given up to 18 months in advance. I need to sight your birth documents ( If you were born in Australia, I need to see your birth certificates. If you were born overseas, birth certificates are still preferred, but non-Australian valid Passports will need to be sighted and a statutory declaration signed). If you were previously married, I need to see evidence of divorce or death certficates if you are a widow or widower.
In the event that your marriage must take place before the required month's notice, it requires the approval of a prescribed authority and you must have a valid reason for this shortening of time. The Registrar of the Births, Deaths and Marriages or the local court can issue this shortening of time document but it will incur a fee.
At this meeting we will discuss the sort of ceremony you require where I will give you a number of different versions which you can take with you to create a unique ceremony to your liking. You will pay a deposit on this meeting with the remainder to be paid at the second interview or 6 weeks prior to the wedding.
Once you have decided what you like, we have a second interview where we will go through the ceremony and fine tune your ceremony to make sure it meets the legal requirements as well as meeting your own specific needs.
